Introduction For CS SD NAND

There are several names for CS SD NAND. Engineers called it weldable TF card, Mini eMMC，also NAND Flash without writing driver. CS SD NAND can be simply understood as a weldable TF card or SD card with 6*8m LGA-8 package technology.

What constitute CS SD NAND ? 

Internally, there are the stable SLC NAND Flash wafer, flash controller and firmware.

In external, SD interface is used as the hardware.

What can we benefit from SD NAND architecture?

1, All CS SD NAND adopt original SLC NAND Flash. As all we know, SLC flash is the most stable NAND Flash. The P/E Cycle of SLC NAND can reach 50-100 thousand times.

2, The SLC NAND flash make the SD NAND bear the 10K random power off test, high and low temperature test and high temperature reflow test. Thus, we can promise the SD NAND longest life and most stability.

3, SD NAND has the built-in flash controller which can manage bad block, Wear-Leveling Algorithm , dynamic and static EDC/ECC algorithms and so on.

4, Furthermore, SD NAND adopt LGA-8 package technology. This kind of package make it stable for welding, and improve the production efficiency. SD NAND can be welded by SMT machine, which make it better quality than TF card. Meanwhile, LGA-8 package technology enable SD NAND smaller size-6*8mm, which can lower the cost(just need 2-layer PCB board).

What’s the differences between CS SD NAND and other memory products?

1. Compare with the Raw NAND, CS SD NAND don’t need extra driver. The controller make the SD NAND easy to use, and also reduce processor’s load. And need less GPIO pins(CS SD NAND just need 8-pin, Raw NAND need 48-pin)

2. Compare with eMMC and TF card, the capacity of SD NAND ranges from 128MB to 8GB, less pin make the stable welding. With multiple choices for capacity and smaller size, SD NAND help customers produce more highly cost-effective products.

3. Compare with SPI NOR Flash, the R/W speed of SD NAND is faster, the capacity is bigger.
